Tooth extraction

We will not extract a tooth before we are certain that it cannot be saved. Among the reasons when it cannot be avoided are: tooth decay, chronic infections, end-stage gum disease, threat to other teeth and bite changes. There are 3 levels of extraction (simple, complex, atypical).

Simple tooth extraction

The easiest and quickest. This includes teeth that have already erupted, paradontic teeth (near which there is severe bone loss). On average, the procedure lasts 20-40 minutes, and the post-operative period can be unnoticeable and comfortable. As a rule, patients feel a slight “discomfort” for the first 3 days after surgery.

Complex tooth extraction

This includes teeth that have not fully “erupted” (covered partially or completely with mucosa), “easy-lying” wisdom teeth. To remove such a tooth, additional surgical interventions are performed to open access to the tooth. On average, the procedure lasts 60-90 minutes, the postoperative period is accompanied by mild swelling in the area of extraction. Patients are prescribed painkillers for the period of swelling.

Atypical tooth extraction

This extraction includes teeth:

  • Not erupted
  • Which are surrounded on all sides by bone.
  • “Horizontally lying” wisdom teeth
  • Wisdom teeth placed close near the nerve of the lower jaw
  • Wisdom teeth in contact with the maxillary sinus
  • Wisdom teeth in childhood

Additional 3D X-rays are taken for a more accurate diagnosis. During the procedure, doctors work with optics (on the upper jaw) or a microscope (on the lower jaw).

Soft tissue management

Depending on the situation, the procedures may focus on repairing (reshaping, volume enhancement) or cutting away lost tissue. We perform procedures under a microscope, which accelerates the speed of healing and reduces the trauma of surgery. Using a microscope in surgery, we work with micro-surgical instruments and use thin suture material. The healing time lasts from 7-10 days to 6-8 weeks (depending on the situation).

Bone grafting

A surgical intervention performed under an optic or microscope to restore bone lost for various reasons. Bone grafting is performed under local anaesthesia. We use new generation materials from Geistlich Bio-Oss and Botiss. In order for the bone material to hold its shape and volume, it is covered with a collagen membrane. Grafting lasts on average 4-6 months. An implant is placed in place of the newly formed bone.

Sinus lift

Bone grafting, which is performed on the upper jaw in the projection of the maxillary sinus. The aim of the operation is to create access to the floor of the maxillary sinus. Under magnification or microscope, the bottom of the maxillary sinus is peeled off with special instruments. In the formed space is placed bone material and collagen membrane. For a month after this manipulation is not recommended to engage in active sports, flights or deep-sea diving/diving. Plastic grafting takes 6-8 months.

I came to Clovadent with this problem. Eight years ago, after a boxing injury, I started to have a "crunching" (popping) of the joint on my right side when opening my mouth wide.
